Dance Store Dance Shoes, Christchurch West Coast Swing Dance Shoes

In 2008 I started learning West Coast Swing (WCS), a dance style with specific footwork that allows each parnter to express their own interpretation of the music and where the lady (or follower) travels back and forth along an imagined slot. My dance partner, Mandi, and I now teach West Coast Swing classes in Christchurch and the greater South Island. Check out Swing South West Coast Swing for more information about our classes.

The way I dance Modern Jive incorporates a number of techniques from WCS which helps me to have a clearer connection with the partner I am dancing with and to make the dance a lot smoother which makes it way more fun for both of us!

The low cuban heel dance shoes I have available are the same as those used by top West Coast Swing and Modern Jive dancers such as Tatiana Mollman, , Holly Skinner, Emma Willis, Jennifer DeLuca, Tori Smith, Kellese Key, Tessa Cunningham and many more. These shoes make it easier for the dancer to put their weight into their heel and thus be more grounded.

In New Zealand, I have found it particularly hard to find a pair of good-quality, affordable dance shoes that fit my feet comfortably. I started Dance Store at the beginning of 2010 with the goal of making good-quality dance shoes affordable for everyone.
